The feast is in the fridge... except the French Silk pie; that's in my belly!
The house is quiet... aside from the occasional Nerf gun blast and the traditional football game in the background.
Even Oakley is resting after chowing down on his food flavored with Thanksgiving gravy.
I am sitting on the couch with the ad's by my side. As soon as I am finished with this post, I will be mapping out my plan of attack on this years Black Friday festivities.
ALL IS GOOD!
This year was a little different compared to all the years past. It was quiet. Just the four of us for actual Thanksgiving dinner. It has NEVER been just the four of us. My mom stopped by for a bit, but other than that we were solo. I kinda have mixed feelings about this. On one hand it was nice... no pressure. On the other hand it made me realize that even with ALL THE WORK that goes into having everyone here(I usually host)... I prefer the gathering of family.
Don't get me wrong... peace and quiet has perks of its own.
I hope you all have a full belly and a full heart this Thanksgiving.

Thankful Thanksgiving"eve"...
"Difficulties are opportunities to better things; they are stepping stones to greater experience. Perhaps someday I will be thankful for a temporary failure in a particular direction. After all, when one door closes, another always opens".
I like that quote. Its so true.
Yes, we were burdened with a difficult disease. But we gained compassion, we gained true friends, we gained support beyond any support we have ever known.
Yes, we are burdened with financial stress. But we gained the ability to appreciate whats important. Health. Family. Love.
Yes, we have been burdened with lack of sleep. But we get the opportunity to watch over our children as they sleep peacefully in the night.
We are burdened with strain on our friendships, marriages, and even family relationships. But in this... we find our true friends and we learn how strong our bonds can become.
I can say from MUCH experience that it is easier to see the burden than to appreciate what we gain. I understand how it is easier to think of what we have lost. I do this every day as I look in the mirror at the worn out version of the person I use to be. I do it every night as I drag my tired limp body across the house to draw blood from tiny callused fingers. I do this every time my heart aches for my child.
But in these days of giving thanks...
When I blow my drink out of my nose... I will be thankful for the laughter that caused me to do it.
When I am sitting down to eat Thanksgiving dinner... I will be thankful that I have been blessed with a wonderful family and that they are there with me.
When I'm standing on a step ladder at 3am in the morning... I will be thankful that I heard the alarm.
As I am piercing my sons polk-a-dot fingertips... I will be thankful for the ability to check his bg.
As I push the buttons on Justin's Ping meter... I will be thankful that he can eat freely and enjoy this day full of belt loosening madness.
As I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving... I hope they know how grateful I am to have them in my life. I hope they know what a blessing they are to me.
To ALL my friends... HAPPY Thanksgiving"eve".
