Let the Christmas season begin...

The weather today is BEAUTIFUL!! We all have jeans and sweaters on. Now it feels like the holidays :) I do think it is suppose to warm up for a couple days and then get cold again on Monday, but still cool in the evening. This is a very welcomed change in weather because there's nothing like hanging Christmas lights in a tank top and shorts while you sweat~ right?

To officially kick off the holiday season, I battled the rush of the black Friday festivities :)
However this year, I accidentally fell asleep (oops) so I did miss out on a little of the "fun" and a couple of the deals on my list But that's okay... I guess I needed a nap more.

Then this evening we headed down to Hyde Park Village for the lighting of the Christmas tree. Okay, okay... it's no New York, but you take what you can get. We had a good time... enjoyed some hot chocolate... it was just nice to get out. (In our jackets!!)
Disclaimer: please excuse my child's hair... we need a trim:)

Justin wanted NOTHING to do with the crazy man(elf) on the presents!!! Leighanna is usually game for anything... that's my girl.

Happy Friday!

The Carb Song...

I found this on childrenwithdiabetes.com. I thought it was good for a quick smile :)
Hope you enjoy...
Count the CarbsBy Alissa Levenberg [ alissa AT ufp.com ]
Sung to the tune of "Deck the Halls"

Count the carbs with cups and scales
Fa la la la la la la la la
Guesstimate when all else fails
Fa la la la la la la la la
Hands and fists are quite a treasure
Fa la la la la la la la la
When without a one cup measure
Fa la la la la la la la la
Factored carbs are even greater
Fa la la la la la la la la
But require a calculator
Fa la la la la la la la la
Units you must designate
Fa la la la la la la la la
Don't forget to tare the plate!
Fa la la la la la la la la
Candy canes are roughly twenty
Fa la la la la la la la la
You will have to fudge a-plenty
Fa la la la la la la la la
Guess them now and fix it after
Fa la la la la la la la la
Just correct and meet with laughter
Fa la la la la la la la la

Quote of the day...

I love this quote :)
Keep moving forward...

“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”

Things I absolutely DID NOT do this week...

~I absolutely did not forget to stop at the store and get my hubby a desert to celebrate his birthday. Which means I did not run up there when he called to say he was on his way and I did not tell him I waited to cook the brownies for his brownie sundae so that they would be warm enough to soften the ice cream.
***********************************
~I absolutely did not have to stay up until 3am on Tuesday fixing the PTA budget that I absolutely did not screw all up last month.
***********************************
~ Then on Wednesday I absolutely did not have to stay up until 4am to finish up the typing of my kids science fair reports... I did not doze off several times... and I did not crack up at my hilarious wording errors because of my non lack of exhaustion.
I mean SERIOUSLY... who would say... "Why does loose gum loose it’s flavor?"
***********************************
~I absolutely did not paint new polish over my old polish because I have not been neglecting my toes and I am not in desperate need of a pedi.
***********************************
~My eyebrows do not look like Albert Einstein's right now.
***********************************
~I am absolutely not a bottled blond, therefore my roots are not way to long because I am
absolutely not completely neglecting myself.
***********************************
~I did not TRY to get out of going on Justin's field trip to MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry) even though I knew I had to go.
***********************************
~I did not eat Lays BBQ potato chips for breakfast.
***********************************
~I did not neglect to cook dinner all week because my hubby wasn't home for it. which means my kids ABSOLUTELY DID NOT eat Beef's, Beef's leftover's, McDonald's, Sonic and Pizza for dinner all in the same week. Since we DIDN'T do that... maybe we can eat out tonight :)
***********************************
~I did not have to start Justin's science fair project over again because it is not hot enough in the garage to prove that heat makes a difference in evaporation. (it's Florida.. the garage is always hot!)
***********************************
~Speaking of science fair projects... I absolutely did not steal an idea and then convince my daughter to change her plant project to a bubble gum project because I have a black thumb and can kill a cactus.
***********************************
~Because I didn't do the above mentioned... I also didn't use the post from Shark Bait to convince her how cute the NON-STOLEN project idea could be.
***********************************
~I did not send a little boy home because I could not deal with him running around my back yard SCREAMING "I hate you" to the other kids... I didn't have to do this because his parents actually watch him while he's outside.
***********************************
~I am absolutely not still sitting here watching Sponge Bob even though my kids are not still in the room.
***********************************
~I am sooo not writing this post to avoid house cleaning and laundry. ~I would N-E-V-E-R!!
***********************************
~I am absolutely not jealous that other D-bloggy friends(Joanne) live close to other D-bloggy friends(Laura) and that I have no D-bloggy friends that live near me in Florida to hang out with.
I mean seriously... I would never wanna hang out!
***********************************
~And I am not DREADING this year's holiday season... I really LOVE the holidays... I don't know why I would EVER do that!
***********************************
NOPE... I would NEVER! What did you ABSOLUTELY NOT DO this week?

Who's in your top 5?

I finally had the chance to sit down and watch The Ugly Truth tonight. It has been a long weekend with the school fundraising auction, science fair project x 2(research papers are due this week), turkey project, girl scout encampment... and all the work that goes with it all.
Lots of changes going on aroud here... but thats a whole nother story.

So I finally got to sit down and watch a movie. I have been dying to see this movie since it came out. Unfortunately, I was alone in my desire. So I had to wait for the DVD. Anyways, tonight I decided to ditch my responsibilities for a while and watch it. I think my friends missed out on a pretty funny chick flick!! Granted it is definitely not for the young ladies due to some interesting insinuations, but I am by no means to "proper" to laugh at a little adult humor. ESPECIALLY when it comes from Gerard Butler. YUM! There is something about that accent paired with his puppy dog trying to act like a tough guy thing that just... well I will just say it adds him to my top 5.
Okay... I actually added Gerard Butler to my top 5 after I watched P.S. I love you. He is the newest addition to my list(It doesn't change often).
So who else is in my top 5? Who are the 5 people my husband has no doubt I would run away with if I had a chance? Yes, he knows... he understands... and he has his own top 5.

Marky Mark... um I mean Mark Wahlberg. Yep, he's been on my top 5 since the funky bunch... Only back then I didn't know exactly what a top 5 meant :) Either way, still hot!
The ever so adorable Josh Hartnett... he snuck his way into my top 5 during Pearl Harbor.
Ryan Reynolds... hello... he's just adorable.
And last but not least... let's face it ladies. Even though he was a dirty and Gross... Captain Jack brought Johnny Depp back to the top 5's of a whole lotta ladies. The days of Edward Scissor Hands and Charlie and the chocolate factory have been forgotten. Johnny Depp is back.
Who's in your top 5? If the truth were known... I would actually have a top 10. Except I limited.
Unfortunately, my husband will only forgive me for my top 5.

Quote of the day...

I stole this one from Meri... I hope she doesn't mind. I needed a reminder myself...

Tell yourself everyday…that hard times don’t last forever…that there will be good times around the corner…and that life is too precious to waste with constant worry and self loathing.

Things I absolutely DID NOT do this week!

I absolutely did not... get a call from my daughters teacher because I forgot to send in her field trip money.

I did not let the prescription on Justin's Glucagon pen expire before I refilled it.

I would never feed my family Cubans for dinner.

I did not tell a group of 3rd graders they were holding a yard stick and the absolutely did not correct me because it was not in fact a meter stick.

I absolutely did not dread that Wednesday was only a half day of school... and I would never wish that they would just keep my sweet angels there so that I could get some stuff done.

I would never rewrite my daughters class speech for her because it was not real good. NEVER!

I absolutely did not forget a stack of checks that went with a PTA deposit... I did not go to the bank with out them... therefore I did not have to run up there like a crazy woman before they closed when I realized that the stack of check was absolutely not still sitting on my table.

I never forgot Leighanna had girl scouts... my friend absolutely did not call and ask if I wanted her to drive.(I usually drive the girls... so I absolutely did not forget about it)

And I absolutely did not leave my kitchen a mess to write this blog.

NOPE NOT ME... I HAD AN ABSOLUTELY PERFECT WEEK! :)
